Wilderness Gathering

A Festival of Bushcraft & Music, Wild Camping & Open Fires

‘What’s the gathering about?

If you’ve never been to the Gathering before and you love nature and the outdoors, then we have the family show for you – Wilderness Gathering, a unique Bushcraft event, is the longest running and still the original festival of bushcraft, survival and primitive living skills.

The Gathering has become a social event and brings together families and friends, all those interested in Bushcraft and Wilderness living skills to enjoy four days of knowledge sharing in a relaxed and family friendly atmosphere.’

“During a forest schools, learners spend regular time in a woodland environment outdoors leading their own learning through activities such as fire-lighting, using tools to create wooden objects, den making, creative activities and lots of games. Creating a fun, supportive environment and giving children exciting, achievable tasks, enables them to succeed and build confidence and self-esteem, and develop new skills which support their learning back in the classroom.”

We have been running Forest School programmes at Scotswood Garden for 10 years and delivering training for the last 6 years. We are the only Forest School Association recognised provider in Tyne and Wear, and we recently won a national Outdoor Learning Award for our Breeze Forest School programme.

Dates: 26th, 27th March, 2nd April 2020 (learners will need to attend all 3 days)
Time: 9.30am – 5.00pm

Campfire Cooking and Whittling CPD Workshops for Forest School

Whittling Workshop;
Join us for a hands-on workshop looking at a variety of whittling techniques and experimenting with simple projects suitable for your client group.

Campfire Cooking Workshop;
We’ll guide you through some cooking and campfire experiments. Focus will be on achievable cooking projects which can be replicated with your Forest School groups. All food is provided.

Family Woodland Explorers Day

Rewild your child with our sell out Family Woodland Explorers Day! Let them embrace the outdoors, like you did when you were a child with den building, bug hunting, making elder necklaces and enjoying the great outdoors together. You’ll even get to sample some campfire treats that are provided. This session is great for school holiday fun and as part of a home schooling programme. Plus accompanying adults go FREE!

Please be aware, many paths are not paved and uneven or have vegetation, which maybe difficult for prams and wheelchairs.
Dress ready for the weather, there maybe mud!
Please bring along your own lunch for the day. You’ll get to sample our tasty treats as well.
