Rustic Building Blocks are made from wood grown in the UK. The blocks may have bark on one side and the cut faces and edges are sanded.
This product WILL crack and change, it is made from untreated wood. This is a natural process which does not affect the use of the product and can encourage a child's investigation of the natural world. Please note: not every piece will have bark on.

These products are made from untreated wood and they will crack and change over time. This is a natural process which does not affect the use of the product and can encourage a child's investigation of the natural world.
Wood contains a natural preservative called tannin which aids its longevity. Tannin is soluble and can leach out of wood when it gets wet. Once the water evaporates, it can leave tannin sediment behind, causing staining. We recommend that you do not store your wood on a porous surface as it may cause discolouration.

Natural wood is a fascinating material unlike a sterile plastic item. Wood changes, its bark comes away, there will be knots and cracks which will expand and contract as the wood changes over time. Further cracks will open up, particularly if left in direct sunlight or during a period of warm, dry weather. This all is amazing and it stimulates questions and helps connect us to the natural world.
Each piece of wood is in its natural form and often with bark on. Every piece has its own unique character with bends, knots, flaky bark, different colours and growth rings. A fascinating and absorbing material.
Natural wood will be affected by its environment. It is best stored in a cool, well-ventilated area protected from damp and heat, to prevent any mould growth and lessen cracking.
