Outdoor fun at home: leaf bashing
Leaf bashing, also known as Hapa Zome, is the process of creating natural prints by beating fresh leaf matter into cloth.
Leaf bashing is an activity you can do in any outdoor space, however big or small. You can even do it inside with natural materials you have collected while outside - but we'd encourage you to do it outdoors if you can.
Since the school closures, Muddy Faces director Liz's two children, 10-year-old MJ and 12-year-old TJ, decided they wanted to turn activities from our Outdoor Hub into videos to help children get outdoors and connecting with nature.
This video shows you how to go about doing some leaf bashing at home.
If you enjoy it please give the video a thumbs up on Youtube, as they plan to make some more.
Keep your eyes out for more Muddy Faces how-to videos coming soon!
We have 2 Leaf Print sets, worth £14.99 each, to give away.
You'll get everything you need to get going with your hapa zome project: a hammer, half round board, 30 mini bunting pieces and a 96cm sq piece of calico.
Competition closes Monday 13 April, at midnight.

Our Outdoor Hub is free to everyone and packed full of literally hundreds of step-by-step, photo-illustrated activities. You don't have to be out in an amazing Forest School or woodland setting, most of the activities can be done at home, in a yard or garden, many of them can be adapted and done indoors.
We really do encourage you to get outside if you can - the benefits to your health and wellbeing are huge - you can read all about them on the Outdoor Hub here.
Our activities are organised in categories so you can find what you need, or use our keyword search (scroll down the left hand menu) to follow your children's interests.
The Outdoor Hub has a wealth of inspiring activities, events and information. Each section has been designed to encourage engagement in the outdoors, connection with nature and to help spark imaginative play and creativity.
