Leaf colour matching
A lovely activity for little ones to practice matching & naming colours.
Introduction
Collect a range of different coloured leaves; autumn is the perfect time for this activity.
* Muddy Faces actively promotes child-led outdoor play & learning. We recognise and believe in the curiosity that children have and their drive to explore and discover. We hope that you will bear this in mind when considering more prescribed activities like this one – often much more creative ideas will occur if resources are simply provided and children are given the time and space to explore independently.

Step #1
Lay out the leaves on a piece of paper.
Find a matching coloured crayon and draw a line next to the leaf in the same colour.
Step #2
Write the name of the colour on the line (or you do it if they’re too young!) next to the leaf.
Step #3
Match the leaves with lollipop sticks.
Use coloured sticks or use matching-coloured crayons to colour in natural-coloured sticks.
Take it further:
Why not stick the matching leaves onto the lollipop sticks to take home?
