In 2026 we dedicated space in our catalogue to welcome DKC into the Muddy Faces family, and explain a little about it's origins.

How Muddy Faces & Den Kit Company came together

The Den Kit Company was founded by Jo Jones and Kay Miller from their kitchen tables. As mums and teachers they had seen first-hand the huge benefits of creative, fun & unprescribed outdoor play. Jo and Kay both wanted their legacy to continue after their retirement and went on a quest to find a home for their beautiful kits. They knew that only a business with a similar approach to child-led play and a passion for the outdoors would do. They already admired the work that Muddy Faces had done over the years enabling children to access the outdoors, so they made the call. Liz, founder of Muddy Faces, had long admired The Den Kit Company and was very excited about working together and continuing The Den Kit Company range.

The successful move to Muddy Faces was made possible by DKC director Imogen Miller (daughter of Kay) who has settled in with the Muddy Faces team brilliantly. Imogen works to ensure that the Den Kit Company range remains true to its founding aims; making sure that every kit is made with the same dedication and attention to detail that Jo & Kay strived for.
