Let’s protect badgers and their habitats this Brocktober!

Learn how you and your clan can keep nature a happy place for us and our badger friends, and celebrate the beauty and wonder of badgers and all that wildlife and nature bring to us.

Celebrate Brocktober and National Badger Day

The 6th October brings us National Badger Day, so we join our friends at Scottish Badgers in designating the whole month to #Brocktober. We are celebrating the crucial role badgers play in nature.

"Nature is my happy place" - a sentiment many of us share. But did you know that badgers play a pivotal role in maintaining the natural beauty and balance of our environment? These fascinating creatures help maintain healthy insect populations, disperse seeds, and aerate the soil through their digging activities.

This National Badger Day and beyond, help raise awareness and vital funds. By protecting badgers and their habitats, we ensure that our natural landscapes remain diverse and vibrant.

Brockwatch

Ever wondered who’s visiting your garden after dark? Join our brand new citizen science project, BrockWatch, and help us discover how badgers use our urban, suburban and rural spaces.

Across our towns and cities, incredible wildlife is living right alongside us, often unseen or unnoticed. From badgers and hedgehogs to foxes and deer, these animals are adapting to urban life in fascinating ways. In fact, badgers in urban areas have become more common in recent decades, but there’s still so much we don’t know about their behaviour and conservation needs, simply because the data isn’t there.

That's where BrockWatch comes in. Our new citizen science project is designed to uncover the hidden lives of badgers, while also capturing valuable insights into the other mammals sharing our gardens and green spaces. By taking part, you’ll be helping us build a clearer picture of where badgers live, how they move through our towns and cities, and how we can better protect them for the future.

Whether you’re a wildlife lover, a curious beginner, or a seasoned spotter, your input makes a real difference. Together, we can shine a light on the secret lives of our urban neighbours.

How can I get involved?
