Working with the nature play cycle, this 2-day workshop (with option to join on day 1 only) will explore the characteristics of play and the value of conflict in play. We will delve into the Ludic Process – with Play, Behaviour and Consent being the broader themes. How do we support play through a consent/ needs lens while holding to nature centric values? We will apply theory to our own challenges and real-life scenarios.
This workshop is open to all working with ages 0-18yrs using play-based education and aims to see you going away with:
- An understanding how to work with perceived conflict in play
- How to support, when to step back, and when to engage with play
- An understanding of our own responses to weapon play types and how they challenge?
- Observation skills: considering whose values are guiding us?
- Nature based activities and games (there will be projectiles!)
- Understand how we as educators can support or adulterate play with different types of dialogue.
- A deeper understanding of types of weapons play, their developmental benefits, where and when do we intervene (or not!)
An opportunity to join a group of kindred spirits and reconnect to nature - to each other – and to ourselves - whilst learning new life-long skills and having lots of FUN in the Great Outdoors :-)!
