Learning Beyond the Classroom Level 3 (SHEFFIELD)

This qualification is intended to provide the learner with an understanding of the benefits of learning beyond the classroom, how to manage groups and facilitate their learning and to practically deliver activity beyond the classroom environment. It is suitable for all who wish to become occupationally competent; need permissions or have an interest in teaching and learning beyond the normal classroom environment.

Event Details

We will discuss the benefits of learning outside. We will look at managing groups outdoors and how we can facilitate learning. We will look at risk benefit analysis and explore how to plan for learning outdoors and making curriculum links through practical experiences. Trainees will plan and deliver their own session of Learning Beyond the Classroom.

It will be delivered by Hayley, a qualified teacher and experienced Forest School and Outdoor Learning Educator.

Location: Foresteers at Greenhead House Farm, S35 0HN or in your own setting for a minimum group of 5 trainees.

Payment: £200 per person – in full when booking through the website or requested by invoice

1 face to face training day 9am-5pm

Assessment:

The ITC Level 3 Award in Learning Beyond the Classroom is assessed by a portfolio of evidence developed by each learner and observational evidence of their own practice. Following assessment and internal moderation by the Centre, evidence of achievement will be made available for external moderation by ITC.

Each learner must produce evidence to meet all the assessment criteria of each unit and this evidence must be authentic, reliable, current, valid and sufficient.

Learner entry requirements:

The minimum age for access to these qualifications is 18 years +

No formal entry requirements. (However learners should be working at Functional skills L2 or above). This qualification is for those aged 18+ such as teachers/assistants, youth workers and group leaders who wish to take learning beyond the classroom.

What you need for the course:

Once your course is confirmed through email you will need

  • Suitable outdoor clothing and closed toe footwear
  • Packed lunch, cup and snacks

We will provide:

  • Hot drinks and biscuits
  • All Required portfolio paperwork
  • Tools and equipment needed to complete tasks on site
  • A basic camping toilet and hand wash facilities
  • Suitable and passionate staff with a range of skills
  • First aider on site
  • A sense of community which allows individuals to be inspired and feel positive
  • Reflective training which suits the needs of the clientel
