GreenWise People Training is as much an experience as it is a course. It launches participants on a journey into the extraordinary realm of nature connection and taking the learning outdoors. Be prepared to get muddy and have plenty of fun with a group of kindred spirits!
After many years as a Trainer with Greenbow Training, Maria Sprostranova wishes to continue the Greenbow legacy through her own GreenWise People Training Centre – in honour of Patrick Harrison, her dear friend and mentor as well as Richard Skrein who she co-ran Greenbow with.
This course will equip you to:
- Fully understand the potential of woodlands and the Great Outdoors for learning and development.
- Integrate the Forest School ethos and principles.
- Explore ways to plan sessions and programs for maximum benefit.
- Open doorways to a wealth of outdoor projects and experiences using natural resources.
- Learn methods to teach and facilitate the development of practical skills such as using tools, fire making, knots, erecting tarpaulins and cooking on an open fire.
- Provide a safe, fun and professional experience for your learners outdoors!
The training covers:
- 9 face-to-face training days - 5 immersive days at Initial training week and 4 further Practical Skills days 3 to 6 months after the start of the course (dates TBC with each new cohort).
- Portfolio development over 12 months; candidates will be given their Forest School Portfolio as well as the Unit Guidance by the Awarding Body and any relevant extra resources.
- Tutor drop-in; your trainer will visit you at your site supporting your delivery and answering any site-specific queries you may have. You get a personal FS consultant for a session!
- Ongoing Tutor support vie email and telephone.
- Live monthly zoom calls (a min of 2 mandatory) for those who wish to discuss any portfolio related and Forest School queries.
- An array of ongoing CPD days hosting some of our leading voices in Nature Connection from around the UK, with priority to all trainees at a reduced GreenWise People trainee rate.
The qualification requires for a two-day 16hr Forest School/Outdoor First Aid course (valid for 3 years) which can be carried out independently or via GreenWise People at preferential rates. We host the brilliant Maxine Lock, founder of Peritia Training, 3 times a year especially for all our students who always have priority.
