Our Forest School Leader training includes all the required elements of Forest School, including planning a programme, the practical skills to use tools and fire safely with children, health and safety outdoors, learning theory and activity ideas. As a conservation organisation, we place particular emphasis on learning to care for and enhance your Forest School space as well as methods you can use to better connect your participants (and yourself) with nature.
Our course starts with 6 face-to face training days utilising both the indoor and outdoor classrooms at Carsington Water as we cover both theory and practical skills. You will then take part in a 2 day Outdoor First Aid course accredited by ITC.
Breaking from training for a few months to practise your new found skills, you will then return for a further 3 outdoor days where we share ideas and assess the skills gained.
Finally, you will then go on to run pilot programmes in your own setting before completing the written portfolio. We provide online support from a dedicated tutor throughout the training process
